Meet Bonnie Jo Manion
Bonnie Jo Manion is a popular garden writer, speaker, and photographer out of Southern California. She is coauthor of Gardening with Free-Range Chickens For Dummies and is quoted in the beautiful part coffee table, part cookbook, Lunch in Provence, and For the Love of Provence.
Bonnie is a little bit farm girl, a little bit European, a little bit SoCal gal, and a whole lot of fun. She embodies a unique South France meets Southern California lifestyle through artful seasonal living in her cooking, gardening, and writing.
She and her husband, John, have spent the last two decades transforming what once was a neglected acre of land into a beautiful and bountiful petite Provence in coastal North San Diego County.
Bonnie has been featured in local and national magazines and in the press for her home and gardens, backyard vineyard, organic practices, chickens, and styling. She was one of four California home gardeners chosen by Scott’s Miracle Grow to ride on their “California Grown” themed float in the January 2016 New Year’s Day Rose Bowl Parade.
In addition, she and her husband, John, have won a multitude of ribbons at the San Diego and Orange County Fairs over the years for their estate wines. Here is a glimpse of the Domaine de Manion Grape Harvest 2020.
A professed self-taught gardener, Bonnie has an Agricultural B.S. degree from Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado. In addition, she has earned an International Business Certificate, and Wine Technology Certificate from Mira Costa College, Oceanside, California.
